CIPM tasks HR inductees on ethics, standards

The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria has called on over 400 newly inducted human resource professionals to champion workplace resilience while upholding the highest standards and ethics of the profession.

The CIPM President and Chairman of the Governing Council, Mallam Ahmed Gobir, gave the charge during CIPM’s 60th Induction Ceremony, themed: “Driving Organisational Agility and Resilience: Navigating Uncertainty and Adapting to New Challenges,” held recently in Lagos.

Gobir noted that the theme serves as the “survival manual for today’s business landscape.

He further emphasised, “It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.”

The guest speaker, the General Manager of Human Resources and Corporate Services, Aradel Holdings Plc, Mrs. Rita Olarewaju, drawing on over 30 years of experience across the oil and gas, consulting, and financial services industries, provided invaluable insights into driving organisational agility and resilience, guiding both inductees and attendees through actionable steps for sustaining organisations during times of uncertainty.

Among the distinguished inductees was Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed, of the Federal Road Safety Corps, who was inducted into the full membership grade of the Institute.

During the ceremony, the overall best-graduating student, Ngozi Nwammana, in her speech as the valedictorian, said, “The CIPM examinations were challenging, but I set a goal and remained committed to it. Most importantly, I was greatly supported by God, surrounded by loving family, wonderful siblings, friends, and mentors who encouraged me to keep pushing forward, even when faced with challenges.”

She added, “Today, I proudly stand here—not only for myself but alongside my fellow inductees—to say that we are not the same people we were a year ago, six months ago, or even three months ago. We have transformed into associates of this esteemed professional body,” she added.

Nwammana encouraged aspiring students to continuously apply themselves to knowledge, improve, and seek excellence.
