CIPM inducts 188, urges public service HR excellence

The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria has announced that it has successfully inducted a total of 188 new members through its Executive and Practitioners’ Routes, reaffirming its commitment to excellence in Public Service HR Management.

The 62nd CIPM Induction Ceremony, themed ‘Creating Excellent Employee Experience in Public Service’, was held recently in Osogbo, Osun State.

The event was graced by distinguished personalities, including the renowned Aragbiji of Iragbiji, His Royal Majesty, Oba Rasheed Olabomi, who served as the Royal Father of the Day.

Delivering the keynote address, a seasoned HR expert and retired permanent secretary in Osun State, Mr Samuel Laluwoye, underscored the importance of leadership responsibilities in professional development.

Laluwoye said, “Leadership in human resource management must transcend traditional boundaries. We must strive to create a public service environment where employees feel valued, motivated, and empowered to deliver excellence. The future of our workforce depends on how well we shape policies that foster inclusivity, engagement, and continuous professional growth.”

The event saw the induction of 24 professionals through the Executive Route and 164 through the Practitioners’ Route, reinforcing CIPM’s commitment to developing competent HR professionals equipped to drive excellence in people management across various sectors.

The President & Chairman of the Governing Council of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria, Mallam Ahmed Ladan Gobir, emphasised the significance of HR leadership and the Institute’s global recognition.

Gobir said, “Today is a monumental day, and we are excited to be here in Osun, the State of the Living Spring, a place that symbolises endless potential and boundless prosperity. Just as Osun is known for its springs that never run dry.

“CIPM is also a constant source of knowledge, innovation, and excellence for HR professionals. By becoming members of CIPM, you are stepping into a powerful network that will nurture, empower, and propel you to new heights in HR leadership.”

Gobir further highlighted the relevance of the theme, stressing the need for employee well-being, engagement, and continuous learning in shaping a world-class public service. He added, “As Richard Branson once said, ‘Take care of your employees, and they will take care of your business.’ The same applies to the public sector; when we invest in our people, we build a more effective, motivated, and high-performing workforce.”

Oba Olabomi encouraged the newly inducted members to uphold the values of efficiency and good governance in their professional endeavours.

He said, “Professional leadership should enhance the recruitment process in public service to ensure a strong succession of quality human resources.”

CIPM reinforces its commitment to HR excellence and professionalism and looks forward to welcoming them to Africa’s largest HR event—the 57th International Conference and Exhibition in Abuja.
