CIPM Inducts 1,261 New Members into HR Practice in Nigeria

The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria on Thursday inducted 1,261 new members at its 68th Induction Ceremony in Lagos, reaffirming its mandate as the only regulatory body for Human Resource Management practice in the country.

Speaking at the event, the President and Chairman of the Governing Council, Ahmed Gobir, reminded practitioners that only CIPM-certified professionals are legally permitted to practise HR in Nigeria. He cautioned that individuals operating without certification are in breach of the law.

Gobir also announced that the Institute will begin delisting non-financial members from Wednesday, 31 December 2025, urging affected members to regularise their status by renewing their annual dues.

He said the ceremony’s theme, “Beyond Engagement to Fulfilment: Building a Culture that Nurtures Belonging and Purpose at Work,” reflects the evolving expectations of modern workplaces. “As HR professionals, you must build workplaces where employees feel valued and find meaning in their work. Engagement gets work done, but fulfilment transforms that work into purpose,” he said.

The ceremony also recognised outstanding performers from the institute’s 2025 examination diets. Ebenezer Sangokoya emerged as the Overall Best Graduating Student for the June 2025 diet, while David Moses Eyo received the same honour for the September 2025 diet. Both awardees received N500,000 each and an all-expense-paid trip to the 2026 CIPM International Conference and Exhibition in Abuja.

The newly inducted members include 34 executive-route full members, 474 associates from the practitioner’s route, and 753 associates from the examination route. CIPM, established by the Act of Parliament CAP I15 LFN 2004, continues to advocate professionalism, capacity building, and ethical people management across sectors.
