Chidozie Ofoegbu Installed as 39th Rotary Ikate President


The Rotary Club of Ikate, Lagos State District 9112, has installed Chidozie Ofoegbu as its 39th president with a mandate to expand digital and humanitarian initiatives in the community, the body stated on Tuesday.

At the investiture ceremony on Sunday, President Rotarian Ofoegbu unveiled a seven-point agenda for the 2025/2026 Rotary year. Key projects include establishing a digital literacy centre for secondary schools and installing solar-powered workstations at Aguda Grammar School. Others include providing 3D animation training for 20 youths, refurbishing boreholes at Adegoke Primary School, distributing sanitation materials and deodorants to students, sponsoring youths to the Rotary Leadership Academy, and conducting free diabetes screenings alongside sickbay refurbishments.

The keynote lecture was delivered by Director of Creativity and Innovations, Globacom, Chuka Obi, who framed humanitarian service as the greatest form of innovation.

He argued that societal well-being underpins security and progress and praised Ofoegbu’s long-standing commitment to community service.

Chairman of the Day, Ferdinand Okechukwu, pledged two million naira in support, while Investiture Chairman, Rotarian Dominic Chukwuemeka, highlighted Ofoegbu’s tech expertise, dubbing him the “AI President.”

Under President Rotarian Ofoegbu, Rotary Ikate aims to integrate technology with social initiatives, strengthening education, health, and community resilience across the Ikate area.
