The Bauchi State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Pham. Sama’ila Burga, on Saturday, said the party is yet to take a final decision on its political future amid ongoing developments in the state.
Burga, who spoke with journalists shortly after the stakeholders meeting at the banquet hall in Bauchi, said that the party leadership is currently engaged in wide consultations and careful study of the situation before arriving at a decision.
He stressed that any step taken would be guided by the overall interest of party members across the state.
“As a responsible political structure, we are consulting widely and assessing the situation before taking a final position,” he said.
However, the State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has constituted a special committee to evaluate possible options.
The committee, headed by the Deputy Governor, Auwal Jatau, is expected to review and recommend the most suitable political platform for the party.
Saturday Telegraph report that some people in the State say the outcome of the committee’s findings could determine the direction of the PDP and influence broader political alignments ahead of future elections.
