Christian Association of Nigeria CAN Bauchi State chapter has urged its members to uphold peace and unity as they celebrate Easter, despite prevailing security challenges across the country.
The call was made by the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Reverend Demuis Damina, in the state during Easter service held at ECWA Gospel Church, Rafin Zurfi, Monday in Bauchi.
Ably represented by the CAN Secretary, Rev. Mathew Wakili, the chairman emphasised the need for harmonious coexistence among Christians and adherents of other faiths.
He noted that the resurrection of Jesus Christ symbolises hope, sacrifice, and unity, urging believers to reflect these virtues in their daily lives.
Also speaking, the Senior Special Assistant on Christian Religious Affairs, Zakkah L. Magaji, called on residents to sustain peaceful coexistence and support efforts toward stability in the state.
Other speakers, including Pastor Daniel Kesfas of Bauchi Local Government CAN, stressed the importance of faith, love, and forgiveness as key elements for societal progress.
Some Christian faithful, including Hope Masoyi and Saratu James, expressed joy over the celebration, describing Easter as a reminder of Christ’s sacrifice for humanity.
Special prayers were offered for peace in Bauchi State and Nigeria at large, while donations were also made to support community members.
