A member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) contesting the Agege State Constituency 2 seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Comrade Mutiu Olaide Oladeebo, popularly known as Okadigbo, has called for revalidation of his stolen mandate in the recently conducted APC State House of Assembly primaries in Lagos State.
Specifically, he accused the Speaker of the Assembly, Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, of overturning his victory at the recently held direct primaries of the party.
In a statement he issued in Lagos on Saturday, Oladeebo, however, called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the leaders of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) party to put in place the necessary machinery for the recovery of his mandate.
Oladeebo also appealed to the National Chairman of the party, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, and the state Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, to intervene in his matter, saying the outcome of the primaries as announced by the officials of the party sent for the assignment did not in any way reflect the choice of the people of the constituency.
“What happened was that some people, led by the Speaker, forced the presiding officials of the party to declare another person who came third in the primaries, the winner of the contest, and this is unfair,” he said.
According to the APC chieftain, the Speaker put some undue pressure on the officials assigned by the party to conduct the primaries to announce his opponent, Mr Azeez Ninilowo, as the winner when he actually won.
While accusing the Speaker of disregarding the directives that had been laid down by the party for the conduct of the primaries, Oladeebo accused some supporters of Hon. Obasa disrupted the process in the six wards making up the constituency when it was apparent that he was coasting home to victory.
“The people of Agege Constituency 02, in their wisdom, called on me to represent them at the State Assembly. But once again, Obasa has interfered, imposing one of his stooges on our constituency.
“During the primaries, elections were peacefully conducted across six wards. In the three wards where voting was completed, I was leading with a clear margin, but when news reached Obasa that the people of Agege Constituency 02 had massively turned out to support me, he ordered his boys to unleash violence in the remaining wards, disrupting the process.
