APPON to enhance public procurement frameworks in Lagos


The Lagos State Chapter of the Association of Public Procurement Practitioners of Nigeria is set to host the third edition of its Capacity Building Programme aimed at enhancing public procurement systems for sustainable development.

The event, themed ‘Strengthening Procurement System for Sustainable Development’, is scheduled for Thursday, 2 April 2026, at Adeyemi Bero Hall, Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos State.

The programme will feature His Excellency, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, as the Special Guest of Honour, with the keynote address delivered by Director-General Adebwale Adedokun of the Bureau of Public Procurement. Other notable speakers include Director-General Fatai Onafowote of the Lagos State Public Procurement Agency; Global Sourcing and Supply Chain Expert Adeola Oduntan of MTN; National President Emem James Kanico of APPON; and Chairperson Morenike Olawole of the APPON Lagos State Chapter.

Speaking ahead of the programme, the APPON Lagos chapter emphasised that the training is designed to enhance the capacity of procurement professionals, promote transparency, and drive efficiency in public procurement processes across Nigeria.

The event will bring together policymakers, procurement experts, private sector stakeholders, and development practitioners to discuss strategies for strengthening procurement frameworks as a critical tool for sustainable development. Interested participants are encouraged to register in advance.

The initiative reflects APPON Lagos’s commitment to building robust procurement systems that contribute to effective governance, accountability, and the broader goal of sustainable economic growth.
