APC Fires Back At ADC, Says Party ‘Author Of Its Own Fate’

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has launched a scathing attack on the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing the opposition party as disorganised, crisis-ridden, and solely responsible for its internal turmoil.

In a strongly worded statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the APC dismissed allegations by the ADC that it was being undermined by external forces, insisting that the party’s woes were entirely self-inflicted.

According to the APC, the ADC has evolved into “an assembly of confused and desperate politicians,” accusing it of peddling baseless conspiracy theories rather than addressing its internal challenges.

The ruling party further characterised the ADC as a “failed political contraption” that was destined to collapse due to what it described as inherent structural and leadership deficiencies.

Central to the APC’s criticism is the leadership crisis within the ADC, particularly the emergence of a faction allegedly led by former Senate President David Mark and ex-Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola.

The APC claimed that their entry into the party violated constitutional provisions and due process, thereby triggering the current instability.

The statement also referenced the decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to de-recognise the factional leadership, noting that the action was in compliance with a valid court judgment and consistent with democratic norms.

“The ADC set its own date with destiny through reckless disregard for the rule of law,” the APC said, adding that it was “escapist and irresponsible” for the party to blame others for its predicament.

The APC maintained that the ADC’s inability to manage its internal affairs raises serious doubts about its capacity to govern, arguing that “a party that cannot fix itself cannot possibly fix Nigeria.”

It also accused the ADC of lacking a coherent policy direction, alleging that its primary focus has been unwarranted attacks on the APC rather than offering viable alternatives to Nigerians.

Reaffirming its commitment to governance, the APC stated that its administration under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains focused on implementing the Renewed Hope Agenda and strengthening democratic institutions for national development.

The statement underscores the deepening political tensions between the ruling party and opposition groups ahead of future electoral contests.
