APC Chieftain, Asiri Ede Declares For Osun Assembly Seat

Alhaji AbdulLateef Olalekan has declared his intention to contest for the Ede South Constituency seat in the Osun State House of Assembly in the 2027 general elections on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Olalekan made this declaration on Saturday, April 4, while fielding questions from journalists in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.

Olalekan, an Ede-born grassroot political mobiliser, conveyed his intention to party leaders, elders, and residents of the constituency, citing the need for effective and responsive representation.

He said his decision followed consultations across wards and an assessment of the needs of the people, adding that his ambition is driven by a sense of responsibility.

The aspirant noted that legislative duties go beyond debates, emphasising lawmaking, budget oversight, and adequate representation of constituency interests.

He outlined a four-point agenda focusing on legislative effectiveness, budget advocacy and oversight, youth and economic empowerment, as well as accessibility and accountability.

According to him, he plans to support laws that will improve infrastructure, education, and primary healthcare, while also promoting policies aimed at youth development, entrepreneurship, and agriculture.

On budget performance, Olalekan said he would prioritise monitoring allocations to the constituency to ensure proper implementation and value for public funds.

He also pledged to maintain open communication with constituents to promote inclusive governance.

While appreciating the party leadership in the state, Olalekan acknowledged the political sagacity of the former Governor of the State and current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, towards the sustainability of the party.

He, however, used the opportunity to solicit support for the party’s gubernatorial candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, saying he has the required knowledge and charisma to take the state to greater heights.

The August 15 gubernatorial election is a critical election requiring purposeful leadership. A man who has all that it takes to take the state to greater heights.

“I want to urge my people to continue to support our party and its flagbearer and deliver massive votes for him come August 15

He, therefore , reaffirmed his commitment to party unity and internal democratic processes, just as he called on residents of Ede South to support his aspiration, stressing the need for stronger representation at the state legislature.
