AMVCA Announces Nominees For 12th Edition


On Sunday, the organisers of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) announced the nominees for its 12th edition.

According to the organisers of the prestigious award, the 2026 edition consists of 32 categories, featuring 18 jury-voted awards, 11 audience-voted categories, and three special recognition awards, including Lifetime Achievement and Trailblazer honours.

Announcing the programme line-up in a live show on Africa Magic channels, hosted by AMVCA-winning actor Chimezie Imo, the organisers announced that the main ceremony is scheduled for May 9, 2026.

Notably, the award organisers introduced two new categories, which are Best Indigenous Language Film (North Africa) and Best Indigenous Language Film (Central Africa), to strengthen the awards’ African reach.

New Telegraph had earlier reported that Veteran Nigerian actress, Joke Silva, was named Head Judge, succeeding Femi Odugbemi in judging the categories for the award.
