Emirates Airline and Air Peace have activated a bilateral interline agreement aimed at expanding air connectivity between Africa, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom.
The partnership, which builds on an existing relationship between the two carriers, will allow passengers to travel on a single ticket across select routes operated by both airlines, with baggage checked through to their final destinations.
In a statement made available to journalists by Air Peace on Monday, the airlines said the agreement would improve travel convenience and open up more destinations to customers across West and Central Africa.
Under the latest arrangement, Emirates passengers can now connect to additional West African cities on Air Peace’s network, including Banjul in The Gambia and Dakar in Senegal via Abidjan, as well as Freetown in Sierra Leone and Monrovia in Liberia via Accra.
This, the statement noted, was in addition to the 13 Nigerian cities already accessible to Emirates customers through Air Peace.
It will be recalled that in February last year, the management of Emirates announced the signing of an interline agreement with Air Peace.
The airlines said the new gateways would enable more African travellers to access Emirates’ global network and onboard services while also supporting tourism and business travel into the region.
The agreement also allows Air Peace to link its regional network to Emirates’ hub in Dubai and to key international destinations, including London Heathrow, London Gatwick and London Stansted, as well as Lagos, Accra and Abidjan.
Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer of Emirates, Adnan Kazim, said the partnership would strengthen the airline’s footprint in Africa and support Nigeria’s aviation sector.
Kazim said, “Enhancing our interline partnership with Air Peace allows us to expand our footprint across more of Africa, creating new opportunities for people to fly better with Emirates, while helping international tourists explore more of the region via Lagos.
“We remain committed to working with strategic partners such as Air Peace to further strengthen Nigeria’s aviation, tourism and trade sectors.”
Air Peace also described the agreement as a strategic milestone for the airline.
The chief commercial officer of Air Peace, Nowel Ngala, said the deal would improve access to global markets for African travellers.
He said, “This interline agreement with Emirates represents a major step in Air Peace’s strategic vision to connect Africa more efficiently to global markets.
“By combining our strong regional presence with Emirates’ extensive international network, we are delivering seamless connectivity, improved travel experience, and greater access to key global destinations for African travellers. This partnership further reinforces Air Peace’s role as a critical bridge between Africa and the global aviation ecosystem.”
Emirates currently operates a Boeing 777-300ER on its Dubai–Lagos route, offering first-class, business and economy cabins.
The airline said passengers enjoy multi-course menus designed by award-winning chefs, a wide selection of beverages and access to more than 6,500 entertainment channels on its ICE inflight system, including Nollywood content.
Air Peace, on its part, operates a fleet of more than 50 aircraft, including Boeing 777s, Boeing 737s and Embraer jets, serving domestic, regional and international routes.
