The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) for Zone 4, Makurdi, Benue State, has presented cheques totalling N889,481.85k from the group life insurance scheme and personal accident insurance scheme to two beneficiaries, identified as the next of kin of police officers who passed away while in active service within the Zone 4 headquarters.
The presentation, which took place at the AIG’s office, was carried out to mark the 2026 National Police Week
Presenting the cheques on behalf of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Olatunji Rilwan Disu, AIG Zone 4, AIG Dankombo F. Morris extended his condolences to the families of the deceased officers.
He commended the officers’ commitment to sacrifice, a virtue deeply ingrained within the police force, and reiterated the Force leadership’s dedication to the welfare of its personnel and their families.

Zone 4, Makurdi, for the Assistant Inspector-General of Police Zone 4, Makurdi, ASP Ayo Oluwaseun Martins, urged the beneficiaries to utilise the funds judiciously to support their families’ well-being.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr Vincent Odeh expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police for prioritising the welfare of personnel and their families.
He acknowledged that the gesture would significantly assist the families and also thanked AIG Zone 4 for his compassionate guidance and empathy toward the families of the deceased.
