Again, Ndume Decries Boko Haram Attacks on Borno Communities

The Senator representing Borno South at the National Assembly, Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, has decried the unabated attacks by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists, specifically on the last Saturday invasion on Ashigashiya village in Gwoza and Kopul village of Askira-Uba Local Government Areas in his Senatorial District.

The separate attacks led to the killing of a disabled household member who was consumed in a fire reportedly set by the terrorists at his house in Ashigashiya.

Many residential houses were also set ablaze with the looting of foodstuffs and livestock. Also in Kopul village, there was no casualty recorded, but many houses and shops were destroyed, with the displacement of many people who fled into the bush for safety.

Senator Ndume, in an interview in Maiduguri on Sunday, commiserated with the victims of the attacks, even as he reiterated his calls on the Federal government to fully equip the military, police, and security agencies with sophisticated weapons to end Boko Haram atrocities.

He said, “Our Nigerian Armed Forces are doing their best in fighting Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists, but they are handicapped in terms of weapons. There is an urgent need for the federal government to train, Equip, and motivate (TEAM) the military forces.”

“Our military and other security agencies should have access to Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles, fighter jets and drones if we really want to take on Boko Haram”. Ndume posited.

He, however, commended the Nigerian Military and other security agencies, including members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, hunters/Vigilantes, for their unwavering sacrifices and commitment in the fight against terrorism.

Ndume also lauded the Cameroonian Forces, who responded swiftly in repelling the Ashigashiya attack, which could have been more devastating.
