Africa CDC Inks Partnership to Expand Public Health Summit

The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention has signed a memorandum of understanding with Informa Markets to strengthen the planning, delivery and long-term sustainability of the International Conference on Public Health in Africa and other flagship public health events.

The agreement, signed by Africa CDC Director-General Jean Kaseya and Informa Markets’ President for the Middle East, India, Türkiye and Africa, Peter Hall, brings together the agency’s scientific leadership and Informa’s experience in managing large-scale global events. The partnership comes amid growing demand for coordinated public health leadership across the continent.

They said in a statement that under the MoU, Informa Markets will support the expansion of CPHIA’s scale, visibility and international reach, while Africa CDC retains full scientific, strategic and convening leadership of the conference.

“This partnership reinforces Africa CDC’s commitment to strengthening continental ownership of public health priorities,” Kaseya said. He described CPHIA as a critical forum for African experts and leaders to shape the continent’s health security agenda, adding that Informa Markets’ support would help broaden the conference’s impact.

Africa CDC said the collaboration aligns with its 2023–2027 Strategic Plan and the Africa Health Security and Sovereignty agenda, which seek to strengthen health systems, improve preparedness and deepen regional cooperation.

Informa Markets, an organiser of global healthcare exhibitions including the World Health Expo, said it would leverage its industry expertise and international network to support the growth of CPHIA.

“This partnership reflects a strong alignment of vision between Informa Markets and Africa CDC,” Hall said. “Drawing on more than 50 years’ experience delivering global healthcare events, we are proud to support CPHIA’s continued growth.”

Since its launch in 2021, Africa CDC has hosted four editions of CPHIA, bringing together heads of state, health ministers, researchers, frontline health workers, private-sector leaders and global institutions. The conference has become a central platform for policy alignment, scientific exchange and public health dialogue in Africa.

The fifth edition, CPHIA 2026, is scheduled in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and is expected to attract thousands of delegates from across the continent and beyond.
