Aero Contractors showcased its enhanced Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul capabilities at the recently concluded Aviation Africa Summit and Exhibition in Kigali, Rwanda, where Nigeria’s oldest aviation company made an impression.
The airline disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen on Monday.
The high-profile event brought together key stakeholders across Africa’s aviation industry, including airlines, regulators, and original equipment manufacturers.
For Aero Contractors, it provided a timely platform to spotlight its Lagos-based MRO facility, which has undergone major upgrades and is positioning itself as a leading hub for regional and international aircraft maintenance.
Speaking at the exhibition, James Ominyi, Head of the Approved Maintenance Organisation Division at Aero Contractors, said the company’s enhanced offerings attracted considerable interest.
He said, “Our improved capabilities and ongoing upgrades are attracting significant attention from airlines looking to reduce costs and turnaround times by carrying out their heavy maintenance checks within Africa.”
The airline’s delegation at the summit was led by senior executives, including Chief Financial Officer Charles Grant, Technical Director Emmanuel Adeyeye, GM Rotary Wing Garba Mouktar, and MRO Business Development Manager Adeyemi Adewojo.
The airline emphasised Aero’s strategic ambition to serve as a continental MRO hub, a goal that continues to enjoy the full backing of the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria, the aviation firm’s core shareholder.
Aero prides its MRO facility in Lagos as one of the most advanced in West and Central Africa, offering a wide range of services, including listing its capability to contain “Line and Base Maintenance for Boeing 737 Classics and Next Generation aircraft, regional jets, and turboprops. Helicopter Maintenance, including both scheduled and unscheduled checks for platforms such as the AW139.”
The airline added that its “specialised workshops, covering wheels and brakes, batteries, avionics, upholstery, and structural repairs, are currently undergoing upgrades in line with international standards and preparations for EASA certification.”
He added that the facility is fully certified by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority and also holds approvals from multiple international aviation regulators, including the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, Mongolian Civil Aviation Authority, and Senegalese Civil Aviation Authority, adding that “These endorsements highlight Aero’s adherence to global aviation standards and its credibility among regional and foreign operators.”
The airline added that its MRO has delivered services to a growing list of both domestic and regional clients. Its base maintenance customers include Passion Airline maintenance services for Royal Air Maroc, and its rotary-wing division supports several offshore oil and gas operators, reinforcing its technical versatility.
