The leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), on Wednesday, met with the Seyi Makinde-led People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

The closed-door meeting, which lasted for about three hours, was held at the Apo residence of ADC National Chairman Senator David Mark.

Though Makinde, who briefed journalists at the end of the meeting, said the purpose was to solidarize with the ADC over their travail with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), there are indications that the two parties are exploring the possibility towards working together in 2027.

Apart from Makinde, the Chairman of PDP Board of Trustees (BoT), Senator Adolphus Wabara, led other members of the board, including Prof. Jerry GANA and the Secretary of the board, Dr Mu’Azu Babangida Aliyu, while the factional PDP National Chairman, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, led the National Working Committee (NWC) members to the meeting.

All the ADC leaders were there, including former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, former Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, his New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, former Rivers State governor Rotimi Amaechi, and NWC members.

Makinde said the meeting would continue, but a source at the meeting disclosed that discussions centred on the possibility of forming a united opposition front capable of challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.
