The All Progressives Congress (APC) Women Leader in Adamawa State, Mrs Patrick Yakubu has accused the state Chairman of the party, Barr. Shuaibu Idris of embezzling N325 million alleged contribution by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) for the funding of the party.

Mrs Patricia Yakubu, who made the allegations in a petition addressed to the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, revealed that between October 2023 and October 2024, TETFUND funded the party’s state chapter with N325m.

The petition, which was obtained by New Telegraph on Thursday was copied to the Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, APC National Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje and Wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu and others.

She also accused the state party chairman, Barr. Shuaibu Idris of “Corruption and criminal misappropriation of party funds” and the State Secretary of the party, Raymond Chidama of sexual harassment.

In the petition titled “A call for urgent intervention: Monumental fraud, misappropriation of party funds to the tune of N500 million, name dropping, intimidation and violation of the party constitution”, Mrs Patricia Yakubu alleged that the state party leadership concealed contracts awarded by TETFUND to educational institutions, including the Federal College of Education (FCE) Yola and Gombe Medical College (GMMC), which were reportedly sold for profit.

She contended that the funds, meant for the party’s day-to-day operations, were diverted through individual accounts, circumventing official party financial structures and causing significant hardship for ordinary party members.

“Your Excellency, I now wish to draw your attention and seek your intervention as our leader on some very serious financial matters.

“Corruption and Criminal misappropriation of Party funds: Payment of N25, 000, 000 .00 (Twenty-Five Million Naira) Monthly from TETFund started October 2023 till October 2024 totalling Three Hundred and Twenty-Five Million naira (₦325,000,000.00). The money is meant for running day-to-day party activities in and outside the state.

The party account has been completely abandoned; the financial secretary has been removed as a signatory against the party constitution. Treasurer has been totally sidelined in all financial dealings.

“All Financial transactions are done through an individual account (account details for investigation available). There was this time they collected three months at once totalling Seventy-Five Million naira (₦75,000,000.00).

Sometimes, these monies are paid through BDCs. All issues about these are kept secret by the Chairman, Secretary and Organizing Secretary, while some party executives and faithful are languishing in abject poverty, cannot afford to pay school fees, their children are home, and some have died because they cannot afford hospital bills.

“Contracts from TETFund at FCE Yola and GMMC Yola for the benefit of the party were kept secret. They sold contracts and concealed the proceeds.

“That sometime in December 2023 the former minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman SAN equally gave the Party Executives 15milliion Naira for Christmas but only Fifty Thousand Naira (N50,000.00) was given to each Exco (which is less than 2 million nairas) therefore Forty-Eight Million Naira (₦48,000,000.00) deficit unaccounted for.

“That several trucks of rice and fertilizer were given from the office of the NSA and former minister of education respectively as palliative, but only shared 1 – 2 bags to Excos and sold the remaining thereby committing fraud. (Concrete Evidence will be produced at the appropriate time).

“Recently, the Deputy National Chairman North-East Comrade Mustapha Salihu, PhD assisted the entire state Executives with N100 million naira but only N40.5 million naira was declared at the Secretariat then the remaining remains a secret.

“Sir, the above is just the tip of an iceberg – more facts, documentary evidence of receipts and many more frauds shall be unveiled at the appropriate time.

“These are criminal acts, and this government abhors corruption. Our leader’s second name worldwide is “Anti-corruption Ceaser”. I wish to therefore appeal to you Sir, to please, investigate these matters thoroughly before they consume us in APC Adamawa state. Dare to say this is about to blow up on our face Your Excellency; so please do something.
