Accion MfB empowers women entrepreneurs with digital skills

Accion Microfinance Bank has empowered female entrepreneurs with digital skills to boost the survival of their businesses.

In a statement on Friday, the bank indicated that the empowerment was done in the second edition of its Digital Skills Bootcamp for Women.

The programme, held at the bank’s head office, was designed to equip business owners with essential digital and financial literacy skills to help them scale their businesses, improve financial management, and access funding opportunities.

Building on the success of the inaugural edition, the boot camp featured insightful presentations from industry professionals who shared practical strategies for navigating the digital economy.

The Area Manager of Accion MfB (Lagos West Region), Joy Nwalie, led a session on financial literacy, emphasising the importance of financial planning, investment, and savings.

“Understanding your income, profit, and account management is crucial to achieving business success,” she advised.

Speaking on digital finance transformation, Chief Digital Officer of Accion MfB, Paul Ehiagbonare, highlighted the role of fintech solutions in driving financial inclusion.

He encouraged participants to embrace digital banking for seamless transactions and security, stressing the importance of strong passwords and secure online practices.

The event also featured Bolatito Ogunseye, an external facilitator and fashion designer, who demonstrated how female entrepreneurs can leverage digital platforms, social media, and e-commerce to grow their businesses. “Your business visibility depends on your online marketing efforts. Identifying your ideal customers and tailoring your content to their needs is key,” she said.

Participants expressed enthusiasm about the training, sharing how the knowledge gained would impact their businesses.

One of the participants and an online wig vendor, Cecilia Ugomma, noted, “This programme has been truly enlightening. I now understand the importance of maintaining financial records for loan applications.”

Similarly, a fishery business entrepreneur, Omotola Ajala, said the session on housing loans provided valuable insights for her ongoing projects.
