Abubakar Remains SDP National Chair

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has reaffirmed that Sadiq Umar Abubakar Gombe remains its National Chairman, dismissing reports that a Court of Appeal ruling reinstated former chairman Shehu Musa Gabam.

In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Rufus Aiyenigba, the party said no court judgment removed Abubakar from office, stressing that leadership issues were not part of the appeal court ruling.

The SDP clarified that the judgment delivered by the Court of Appeal on March 27, related strictly to disputes arising from the Ekiti State governorship primaries and not the party’s leadership.

It noted that Gabam was neither a party to the suit nor mentioned in the proceedings. According to the party, the court only held that leadership matters of political parties are internal affairs beyond judicial intervention.
