Dan’Iya Urges Sokoto Govt To Review Security Strategy

The Governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Sokoto State, Hon. Manir Muhammad Dan’iya (Walin Sokoto), has expressed deep concern over the renewed bandit attack on Dan Gulbi Community in Tureta Local Government Area, barely 48 hours after an earlier assault that reportedly claimed the lives of 17 people.

Hon. Dan’iya described the latest incident as a disturbing development that underscores the urgent need for stronger and more coordinated measures to protect lives and property across Sokoto State.

According to the reports, armed bandits invaded Dan Gulbi village on Tuesday morning, arriving on motorcycles and opening fire on villagers, forcing many residents to flee for safety.

Community sources indicated that at least 20 persons may have lost their lives during the latest attack, while several houses were reportedly destroyed and a number of residents remain unaccounted for.

The attack comes just days after another deadly raid on the same community during which at least 17 people were reportedly killed, including individuals who had returned home to celebrate the Eid-el-Kabir festivities with their families.

Hon. Dan’iya extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, the people of Tureta Local Government Area, and the entire Sokoto State, criticizing the APC administration for its perceived lack of urgency and empathy in addressing security challenges.

He called for a comprehensive review of existing security measures, emphasizing the need for enhanced intelligence gathering, stronger collaboration among security agencies, and greater support for vulnerable communities.

The ADC candidate urged security agencies to intensify efforts to identify and prosecute those responsible for the attacks and strengthen security presence in affected areas.
