Nigerian Afrobeats star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has disclosed plans to repurchase his music masters from Sony Music before retiring from music.
Davido made the disclosure during an appearance on The Long Form podcast, where he highlighted ownership as the most crucial element of any music deal.
While noting that his current contract is favourable, the singer said regaining his catalogue remains a priority.

He explained that controlling his masters would allow him to transfer songs to his children once he retires.
“I have a good music contract. But the most important thing is ownership.
“I plan to get my master’s back.
“With that, I can give each of my kids songs even after I retire,” he said.
Davido added that artists must take the business aspects of the industry seriously.
