The President of “Mdzough U Tiv (MUTAS)” in Adamawa State, Mr Iorwuese Anum has called on Tiv Community to support the developmental strides of the present administration in the State.
Mr Anum, who made this call in Yola on Saturday during his inauguration ceremony as the President elect, stressed the need for every citizens to leave in peace and harmony with one another even as he promised to improve on the cordial relationship with the host Community.
He assured that “His administration will serve as a permanent administrative and cultural hub that strengthens coordination, preserve our heritage, and enhances unity and development among the people”.
The President said, “We are equally determined to revive the Tiv day festival, cherished celebration of our heritage that promotes unity among our people, preserve our rich cultural values, encourages youth participation, strengthens our identity, and creates opportunity for social and economic growth”.
According to Mr Anum, “Our administration will also prioritize transparency, accountability, and fairness”, and called on all members of Mdzough U Tiv, regardless of political affiliation, age or social status to join hands with the current administration for peaceful coexistence.
The Present averred that this moment is not just about leadership, it is about service, unity and collective progress, adding “Though the task is great, but together we can achieve remarkable development for our people and communities”.
Commenting on the rampant cases of insecurity ravaging many States of the federation, Mr Anum while applauded the efforts of the Nigeria Military and other security agencies urges them to do more as many of the people are leaving as refugees in their lands.
Speaking earlier, the outgoing President, Barrister Tersoo Hycint Shabo thanked Tiv Community in Adamawa State for the confidence and support bestowed on him and promised to accord the needful cooperation with the new executives to achieve the objectives of Mdzough U Tiv.
Barrister Tersoo Hycint Shabo advised the incoming President to remain a practical servant rather than rhetoric selfish interest and avoid tendencies that can bring division especially with the traditional council who served as custodian of Tiv culture.
“As the President, people are expected quality leadership with dignity all time, adding that he should create a platform for youths and women as well as assisting indigent students from the States”.
There were goodwill massages from Adamawa State Government, from His Royal Majesty Begha U Tiv, Professor James Iorzua Ayatse, TOR-TIV. V and the President General Mdzough U Tiv, Chief Iorbee Ihagh.
Tiv cultural dances added more colours to the occasion as every concerned indigenes witnessed the colourful inauguration.
