Nigerian rapper and social activist Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has criticised the Federal Government over the country’s deteriorating security challenges.
Falz described the 2026 Children’s Day celebration as a sad moment following reports of abducted schoolchildren in Oyo State.
The musician shared his concerns in a post on his verified X account, where he reacted to reports that more than 40 children were still missing after the kidnapping incident involving a school in Oyo State.
He accused the government of failing to adequately safeguard citizens, particularly children.

“Miserable Children’s Day. Over 40 still missing in Oyo. Kidnappers getting richer by the day because our government allow children to be tortured and then reward the criminals with handsome ransom payments,” Falz wrote.
Falz also expressed disappointment at what he sees as increasing public silence and normalisation of insecurity across the country, warning that many Nigerians appear unconcerned despite the growing dangers.
“Citizens carrying on like we are not already in a battle for our lives,” he added.
His comments come amid heightened concern over the abduction of students and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, a development that has sparked outrage and renewed demands for improved security measures in schools.
Known for frequently speaking out on governance, police reform and human rights issues, Falz has consistently used his platform to address matters affecting Nigerians.
His latest remarks have further intensified calls for authorities to strengthen rescue operations and take firmer action against the recurring wave of kidnappings affecting schools and communities nationwide.
