The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, yesterday said no politician can win the 2027 Oyo State governorship election using his name. According to the former governor, the antecedents and popularity of the politicians jostling to contest the election will determine their victory, not his name.
He said this yesterday while addressing journalists at his Bodija, Ibadan, residence as part of Eidel-Kabir. Ladoja explained that the majority of the candidates are campaigning with his name, noting though that all politicians in the state as his children.
He maintained that nothing is wrong if politicians seeking elective positions in 2027 are using his name to promote themselves, but cautioned that the antecedents and popularity of those seeking elective positions will determine their victory and not his name.
Speaking on the recent abduction of 39 students and seven teachers in some communities in the Oriire Local Government Area, the monarch said the government and security agencies are doing their best to ensure the release of the children. He described the incident as sad.
