Nigerians Praise LOTUS Bank for Subsidising Festive Ram

Thousands of citizens have expressed immense gratitude to LOTUS Bank following the successful conclusion of its flagship 2026 Souq Programme, which offered heavily discounted livestock to families buffering the impact of a challenging economy. The two-day lifestyle and commerce event concluded on Sunday, 24 May 2026, bringing together business owners, vendors, and consumers in a lively market atmosphere to help ease the financial burden of upcoming festive preparations.

The clear highlight of the weekend was the Flash Ram Sales, where lucky attendees managed to secure rams at highly subsidised rates, with some selling for as low as N20,000. For many families, this initiative transformed what would have been a difficult holiday into a season of celebration.

One of the event’s beneficiaries, Muhammad Salaudeen, praised the non-interest financial institution for its timely intervention, emphasising how out-of-reach livestock prices have become for the average citizen.

He said, “This initiative by LOTUS Bank is truly commendable. Buying a ram for N20,000 in today’s economy is something many people would not imagine possible.”

Echoing his gratitude, another beneficiary, Daud Abdulhameed, highlighted the social impact of the initiative, pointing out that the bank chose to actively shield its community from prevailing economic hardships.

“At a time when many people cannot afford the rising prices of rams and other essential items, this gesture by LOTUS Bank shows genuine care and support for the community,” he added.

The Souq Programme went far beyond discounted sales, transforming into a bustling multi-sector marketplace. Local vendors showcased fashion, food, fragrances, accessories, and home goods. Families also enjoyed a dedicated Kiddies Arena and Games Centre, while the institution showcased specialised financial tools, including its Hajj and Umrah Savings Product, to help customers plan future spiritual pilgrimages seamlessly.

Speaking on the weekend’s impact, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of LOTUS Bank, Isiaka Ajani-Lawal, reiterated that ethical banking must directly touch people’s lives beyond standard financial metrics.

He said, “The Souq Programme is more than an event; it is a platform that creates opportunities, supports businesses, and delivers meaningful value to families and communities. It reflects the Bank’s commitment to supporting communities, businesses, and customers beyond traditional banking.”

The impressive crowd turnouts and record engagement levels throughout the two days drew praise from leadership, indicating a deep cultural connection between the bank and the public. The Chairman of LOTUS Bank, Alhaja Hajara Adeola, expressed her delight during the opening session, defining the initiative as a practical manifestation of the financial institution’s core philosophy.

She said, “This initiative reflects the values LOTUS Bank stands for: inclusion, ethical enterprise, community support, and shared prosperity.”

Industry analysts tracking the event noted that the success of the 2026 Souq Programme further solidifies LOTUS Bank’s reputation as a customer-centric, ethical non-interest-bearing institution that values sustainable social impact alongside corporate innovation.
