The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Bauchi State has said the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar remains the most qualified candidate to address Nigeria’s economic and security challenges ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The party made the declaration on Sunday while endorsing Atiku as its preferred presidential candidate during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Bauchi.
The State Chairman of the party, Shuaibu Dankama, said the endorsement followed consultations with party stakeholders, professionals, women groups and youths across the state.
He said the country was currently battling rising inflation, unemployment, poverty and worsening insecurity, stressing that Nigerians were yearning for visionary leadership.
According to him, Atiku’s experience in governance and economic reforms places him ahead of other contenders in the race.
“Our people are yearning for leadership with vision, compassion, experience and national acceptance. After careful consideration, we are convinced that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar possesses the experience and competence required to reposition Nigeria on the path of progress, unity and prosperity,” he stated.
Dankama added that Atiku played a major role in economic reforms during his tenure as vice president, particularly in strengthening the private sector and encouraging investments.
Atiku is contesting for the ADC presidential ticket alongside former Rivers State governor Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen.
The ADC chairman also called on party supporters to avoid violence and remain committed to peaceful political engagement ahead of the 2027 elections.
