Kachikwu-Led ADC Sets To Hold Nat’l Convention

As the battle for the 2027 presidential election draws closer, a faction of the African Democratic Congress loyal to the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Dumebi Kachikwu, has announced plans to hold a national convention to strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Acting Chairman of the faction’s National Working Committee, Kingsley Ogga, made this announcement on Saturday in Abuja

According to the statement, the convention is expected to bring together delegates, party stakeholders, youth and women groups, state executives, political observers, and supporters from across the country.

The faction explained that the gathering is aimed at deepening internal democracy within the party, reviewing its political direction, and consolidating preparations for the 2027 elections.

Among issues slated for deliberation are the inauguration and ratification of members of the National Working Committee, consultations on party primaries, expansion of party structures nationwide, and strategies for grassroots mobilisation.

The statement added that discussions would also focus on national development, party reforms, youth and women participation in politics, and the ADC’s contribution to strengthening democratic governance in Nigeria.

The group described the proposed convention as a significant step toward building what it called a stronger and more united political platform capable of offering credible leadership alternatives ahead of the next electoral cycle.

It further urged party supporters, members of civil society organisations, the media, and the general public to participate in the event.
