President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Saturday recorded a resounding victory in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary election in Plateau State, securing an overwhelming endorsement from party faithful across the 17 Local Government Areas of the state.
Declaring the results in Jos, Plateau State Governor, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, who served as the Returning Officer for the exercise, announced that Tinubu polled 242,023 votes to defeat his challenger, Osifo Stanley, who garnered 303 votes.
Governor Mutfwang said the figures represented the official results collated from all the local government areas in the state at the conclusion of the exercise on Saturday night.
“By the powers vested in me as the Returning Officer for the APC presidential primary election in Plateau State, I hereby certify this as the official summary of votes collated from the 17 Local Government Areas,” he declared.
The exercise, which witnessed massive turnout by APC members across Plateau, was largely peaceful, orderly and transparent, with party supporters trooping out in large numbers to participate in the primary.
Mutfwang commended party members for their discipline, unity and commitment throughout the process, describing the exercise as a strong reflection of the democratic maturity and cohesion within the APC in the state.
He also hailed the peaceful conduct of delegates and electoral officials, noting that the smooth exercise further strengthened confidence in the party’s internal democratic process ahead of the 2027 general elections.
It would be recalled that the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda had declared on Saturday that the massive turnout witnessed during the party’s nationwide 2026 primaries was a clear indication of the ruling party’s growing grassroots acceptance and internal democratic strength.
Yilwatda made the declaration shortly after participating in the APC Presidential Primary election Anpang East Ward, in Kanke Local Government Area of Plateau State, where he said the conduct of the exercise had further deepened democratic participation within the party.
The National Chairman of the APC Prof. Yilwatda also monitor the primaries across local Government areas in Plateau State.
