The winner of the Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) Season 7, Josephina Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has opened up on her greatest financial regret.
According to the outspoken reality TV star, she chose to help family members with her N100 million prize money rather than investing it for the future.
Speaking in a recent livestream, Phyna said that when she left the Big Brother house in 2022, she was young and unprepared.
She claimed she used a large portion of the funds to pay off family obligations, give handouts, and complete tasks like drilling boreholes for family members rather than consulting a professional or concentrating on long-term financial security.

“The mistake I made was using my Big Brother Naija prize money to support family members instead of investing it. I thought I was helping my family members and sorting out their debts.
“I was spending generously on them. None of the older family members called me to give me financial advice on how to invest or manage the money well.
“All of them were constantly demanding money from me for several stuff. I dug a lot of boreholes for family members.
“But the moment I started saying ‘No,’ that was the beginning of my problem with family members.
“They complain and even call me out in the media whenever I can’t meet their demands.
“But now that the money has finished, I’m the only one facing the reality alone,” she lamented.
