Frontline House of Representatives aspirant of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), for Awka North and South federal constituency, Ozo Dr Azubuike Augustine Ekweozor, has promised to collaborate with Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo to attract federal projects, secure legislative support for state policies, and boost grassroots development.
He gave the assurance on Sunday when he interfaced with members of “Anambra Patriots”, a political support group in the state, ahead of the May 23, 2026, primary election of the party.
He said, “I am going to the national assembly to assist our governor in developing Anambra state by facilitating federal project funding, lobbying federal ministries, and empowering members of our constituency.
“I will be a vital bridge connecting the Anambra State Government to the government in Abuja. I will use my position as a member of key legislative committees to ensure that federal capital projects come to Anambra State.
“Where I’m not a member of any of these committees, I’ll lobby my colleagues to attract such projects as roads, hospitals, schools, and power grids to Anambra.
“I’ll collaborate with our governor, Soludo, to advocate for federal interventions, grants, and international aid, ensuring that Anambra gets its fair share of national resources. I will act as a buffer between our state and federal authorities to maintain a stable environment for development.
“Most importantly, I will sponsor and support legislative motions and bills that will address specific challenges in our state, such as ecological disaster recovery and agricultural development.”
The aspirant further begged Anambra Patriots to join hands with other members of APGA to help him win the party ticket, and ultimately, the general election.
While explaining his personal traits, he described himself as a ‘street guy’ who is always accessible to everyone, and who will continue to be accessible even when he gets to the NASS.
Nwankwo, who said he was the chairman of Soludo’s re-election campaign organisation in his Umuawulu country home, said he had remained firm in the party over the years, adding that the 2027 run should be a payback time.
He said the incumbent lawmaker did poorly in Agriculture, which is the mainstay of the economy of Awka North and South federal constituency. On the area of security, he said the incumbent left security in the hands of Soludo alone and did not do anything to assist the state. He said if elected, he would give paramount attention to these areas.
He also said he will address the infrastructural deficit in the constituency and will build low-cost housing projects all over the constituency, for the benefit of civil servants.
He said he is the only person among APGA aspirants in the constituency who has not been supported to occupy any political position, despite the fact that he has been supporting APGA in all its activities.
He, therefore, urged the people to support him to get to the House of Representatives, adding that he has all it takes to represent the federal constituency at the national assembly.
He assured that he is not going to the national assembly to embezzle constituency funds but to work for the people.
He also assured that if Anambra Patriots support him to win, he would procure land and build a benefitting secretariate for the group. He further assured that he would be at the House of Representatives for only one term.
Earlier, the Convener of Anambra Patriots, Arc Okey Ezeobi, told the aspirant that he will be held accountable for whatever promises me makes to the people.
He told him, peradventure he wins the Reps seat, he should ensure that he fulfils whatever promises he makes, because he will be rejected in future elections if he fails to perform.
Coordinator of Anambra Patriots in Awka South Constituency 1, Hon. Charles Nweke, described the aspirant as a man who is reputed for doing whatever he says. He added that the aspirant is eminently qualified to represent the federal constituency in Abuja.
Also in his own remarks, Coordinator of Anambra Patriots in Awka North LGA, Hon. Samuel Okoye, praised the aspirant for his good track record in community and human capital development.
Hon. Okoye, who is a former President General of the Amanuke community, assured that Anambra Patriots in Awka North will support his aspiration.
In his opening remarks, the Chairman of Anambra Patriots, Chief Ejiamatu Damian Enekwechi (also known as Ozo Ejiamatu N’Anyi and Ejiamatu Nise), clarified that Ide Umuawulu came to interface with members of Anambra Patriots within Awka North and South federal constituency, viz: Awka North, Awka South 1 and Awka South 2.
Chief Ejiamatu emphasised that Ide possesses the qualifications and capabilities necessary to effectively represent the interests of his constituents in Abuja.
Chief Ejiamatu further described Ide Umuawulu as a dedicated lawmaker whose experiences and successes make him a suitable representative for the federal constituency.
