APC Announces House Of Rep Primary Election Results


Four incumbent lawmakers, Akume’s wife, David Mark’s Daughter, return; others lost out 

The National Assembly Electoral Committee for the House of Representatives in Benue State has announced all results of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections in the federal constituencies of the state.

Sunday Telegraph had earlier reported that the primary elections was held on Saturday across the eleven federal constituencies of the state.

Announcing the results, Chairman of the National Assembly Committee, Alhaji Sabiu Saidu, declared four incumbent Federal lawmakers for Gboko/Tarka Constituency, Hon. Mrs Regina Akume; Hon. Solomon Wombo for Katsina-Ala/ Ukum/ Logo; Hon. Ojotu Ojema for Apa/Agatu, and Hon. Blessing Onu representing Otukpo/ Ohimini constituency re-elected while the other serving lawmakers lost out gallantly.

While Hon. Solomon Wombo polled 64, 274 votes to beat his closest rival, Hon. Asom Akuha, who scored 6,011 votes, Hon. Ojotu Ojema got 11,305 votes against his contender, Danladi Ochepe, who scored 934 votes, Regina Akume polled 19, 638 votes to beat her closest contender, Alumo Orpin, with 2,779 votes, while in Otukpo/Ohimini constituency Hon. Blessing Onyeche Onu, David Mark’s daughter, polled 17, 451 to floor her rival Lawrence Onoja with 974 votes.

Sunday Telegraph reports that in Oju federal constituency, the Committee declared Dr Peter Oboh Egbodo, who got 12,993 votes to floor his closet rival Chief Isaac Ojuo with 936 votes, as winner, while in the Gwer East/Gwer West federal constituency, Hon. David Terhemba Nongo emerged winner with 17, 421 votes against Hon. Ashaver Anas, who placed second with 886 votes.

In Vandeikya/Konshisha aka Jechira Federal Constituency, the home of Governor Hyacinth Alia, Dr Livinus Tsar won with 28, 549 votes beating the incumbent Hon. Sesoo Gboko with 693 votes; while in Ado/Okpokwu/ Ogbadibo federal constituency, Hon. Anthony Attah Agom smiled home with 19, 124 votes.

Also in Kwande/ Ushongo Constituency, Prof. Kohol Shadrach Iornem emerged winner with 40, 672 votes as he floored the incumbent Hon. Terseer Ignore, who obtained 750 total votes cast.

Results as announced for Guma/Makurdi constituency favoured Hon. Ikper Christopher as he polled 37,844 votes against the sitting Hon. Dickson Tarkighir, who scored 1,746 votes, while for the Buruku constituency, Hon. Gideon Dooyum Inyom won with 10, 470 votes cast to emerge winner against the incumbent Hon. Sekav Dzua Iortyom, who scored 1,396 votes.

In Gboko/Tarka Constituency, the wife of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Hon. Regina Mbavekomtor Akume, was declared the winner.
