Aspirant Rejects Rotimi’s ‘Self-Declared Victory’

Demands His Disqualification

The Campaign Organisation of All Progressive Congress (APC) House of Representatives aspirant in Ekiti State, Bimbo Daramola has condemned the electoral victory declaration by the House of Representatives spokesman, Hon. Akin Rotimi.

According to the campaign organization, Rotimi published the results and declared himself the winner of the House of Representatives primary election for the Oye/Ikole Federal Constituency.

In a statement signed by Lanre Aribisala, Head of Media for the Daramola campaign, Hon. Bimbo Daramola described Rotimi’s action as “Illusory” and “Desperation taken too far.”

It reads: “We need to make it clear that we have our agents and have collated the results from our agents. Whatever results Hon. Rotimi and his cohorts are bandying around remain in the figment of his imagination.”

The campaign alleged that results from Ikole Local Government were taken to the residence of a serving commissioner in the Ekiti State Government, while results from Oye Local Government were taken to the hotel of another government official for collation.

It said it had pictures and video evidence from agents at the various locations.

“Here was an election mired by over-voting, violence, and other vices. We ask the public to disregard the purported results and reject the framed outcome as the figment of the imagination of an aspirant who has gone ahead to declare himself the winner,” Aribisala said.

The statement singled out Rotimi’s loss in Ikole Ward 8, Odo Ayedun, as evidence that his victory claim was baseless.

“It challenged him to “Show himself in his ward with the people who gave him the imaginary numbers from his ward and the entire Ikole Local Government where he is from.”

The Daramola campaign called on the party and relevant authorities to disqualify Rotimi over the self-declaration and alleged manipulation of results.

“The rape cannot stand,” the statement concluded.

Efforts to reach Hon. Akin Rotimi for comment were unsuccessful as of press time.
