Niger Rep Hails Stakeholders Over Emergence As Consensus Candidate


The member representing Bida/Gbako/Katcha Federal Constituency and Deputy Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Finance, Hon. Saidu Musa Abdullahi (SMA), has expressed profound appreciation to the leadership and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across Bida, Gbako and Katcha Federal Constituency following his emergence as the consensus candidate of the party for the 2027 General Elections.

Abdullahi, particularly expressed deep appreciation to His Excellency, the Farmer Governor of Niger State, Umar Mohammed Bago, for the critical role he played in his emergence as consensus candidate, as well as for the confidence and trust reposed in him over the years.

The lawmaker noted that the governor’s continuous support, encouragement and belief in his capacity remain a strong source of motivation and responsibility toward strengthening the voice, relevance and competitiveness of Niger State at the National Assembly and within the broader political landscape of the country.

He described his emergence as a great honour, responsibility and demonstration of confidence in his leadership, representation and commitment toward the progress of the constituency.

He also appreciated the fatherly role, support, prayers and encouragement of the Etsu Nupe, His Royal Highness Alhaji (Dr.) Yahaya Abubakar, CFR, the Sheshi of Katcha, Alhaji Baba Adamu, District Heads, Village Heads, traditional institutions and religious leaders across the constituency for their continuous guidance, support and commitment to peace and unity.

Rt. Hon. SMA equally appreciated members of the Niger State House of Assembly, Local Government Chairmen and their Deputies, Commissioners, Ward Councillors, political appointees, party elders and stakeholders across Bida, Gbako and Katcha Local Government Areas for their solidarity, encouragement and commitment throughout the consultations and engagements leading to the consensus arrangement.

The lawmaker further appreciated the National, Zonal, State, Senatorial District, Local Government, Ward and Unit structures of the APC, alongside women groups, youth associations, students organisations, trade unions, inter-tribal associations, faith-based organisations, non-governmental organisations, community-based associations and supporters across the constituency for their unity, loyalty and overwhelming support.

Abdullahi also extended appreciation to other aspirants and their supporters for willingly embracing dialogue, understanding and party unity in resolving the pathway toward the emergence of a consensus candidate for the party.7

He described the development as a collective victory for the APC and the entire constituency, stressing that the spirit of unity, maturity and sacrifice demonstrated by all parties involved remains highly commendable and worthy of emulation.

The lawmaker further appealed to his supporters and associates across the constituency to avoid mocking, insulting or disrespecting any individual over the outcome of the consultations, noting that the consensus arrangement remains a win-win situation aimed at strengthening party unity, stability and collective progress.

A statement by his SLA, Dodo Alhaji, said “Rt. Hon. SMA specially acknowledged the massive turnout, warm receptions, endorsements, prayers and goodwill messages received during his welcome visit to Bida after the purchase of his nomination form, as well as his recent political visits to Gbako and Katcha local government areas, noting that the show of love, confidence and solidarity by the people remains deeply humbling and inspiring.

“He assured the people of Bida/Gbako/Katcha Federal Constituency that his emergence as consensus candidate would further strengthen his commitment toward quality representation, facilitation of impactful projects, humanitarian support and the overall development of the constituency.”

The lawmaker also pledged to continue working closely with all stakeholders, irrespective of political, social or sectional differences, to maintain peace, unity and development across the constituency.

The statement further stated that “Rt. Hon. SMA appealed to party members, supporters and the entire people of the constituency to remain united, peaceful and committed to the collective progress of the constituency, Niger State and Nigeria at large.

“He also reaffirmed his total support for the developmental vision and leadership of His Excellency, the Farmer Governor, Umar Mohammed Bago, as well as the Renewed Hope Agenda and visionary leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

“He prayed to Almighty Allah to continue to guide and bless the leadership of the country, grant peace, unity and prosperity to Niger State and Nigeria, and strengthen the bond of love, understanding and cooperation among the people of Bida/Gbako/Katcha Federal Constituency. Niger State and Nigeria at large.”
