Tinubu Arrives Lagos After Foreign Trip, Set For APC Primaries


Ahead of the primary elections of the All Progressives Congress (APC) scheduled to commence on Saturday, May 16, 2026, President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Lagos on Friday evening following a three-nation diplomatic and investment tour of France, Kenya, and Rwanda, where he engaged global leaders and investors on economic reforms and African development.

The President’s aircraft touched down at about 7:12 pm on Friday at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja.

He was received by the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, his Deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, and Lagos Assembly Speaker,  Mudashiru Obasa, alongside other top government officials.

During his visit to France, President Tinubu met with international investors, highlighting his administration’s commitment to transparency, fiscal discipline, and ongoing economic reforms.

In Nairobi, Kenya, he participated in the Africa Forward Summit co-hosted by Emmanuel Macron and William Ruto, where he advocated reforms in the global financial system and called for stronger African economic integration.

He also emphasised Nigeria’s potential in the blue economy and pledged to share maritime intelligence infrastructure with willing Gulf of Guinea countries.

On the sidelines of the summit, Tinubu held bilateral talks with Madagascan President Michael Randrianirina.

In Kigali, Rwanda, the Nigerian leader attended the Africa CEO Forum, where he joined other African leaders and global business executives to discuss strategies for accelerating economic transformation across the continent.

He also met with Paul Kagame and held discussions with multinational organisations including the International Finance Corporation (IFC), APM Terminals, and Winme Group, with outcomes described as favourable.

President Tinubu is expected to participate in the forthcoming primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC), scheduled to begin on Saturday, May 16.

Ahead of the exercise, he had earlier urged party members to maintain peace and conduct themselves responsibly, stressing the importance of unity and sportsmanship in the interest of both the party and the nation.
