The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has said President Bola Tinubu’s appointment of Maj-Gen. Adeyinka Famadewa (rdt.) as Special Adviser on Homeland Security, is a vote of no confidence in his National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.
New Telegraph had earlier reported that General Famadewa’s appointment was announced on Monday by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume.
Reacting to the appointment, the ADC National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, in a statement on X, said the term ‘homeland’ is meaningless in Nigeria context.
According to Abdullahi, homeland is “ideological and historically rooted,” and not indigenous to Nigeria.
“It makes sense in contexts like the United States, Germany, Israel, or Palestine. In Nigeria, it is largely meaningless,” he added.
The ADC spokesperson advised President Tinubu to simply replace his National Security Adviser, if he no longer has confidence in him, and “not create a new office with a copycat title.”
