Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti, has assured that he will not disappoint the Labour Party (LP), and will continue to promote the ideals of the party.
Otti, who spoke on Friday when he received his governorship nomination forms from the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), declared the Labour Party’s protracted leadership tussle, over.
The party’s NWC had waived the payment of the nomination fees from the Governor because of his support and his development strides in Abia State.
Otti, however, said he would not take the gesture lightly, and promised to continue supporting the party in every possible way.
He commended Senator Nenadi Usman-led leadership for steering the party out of crisis, adding that the coast was now clear for the Labour Party to proceed into the next general elections.
According to him, “All legal impediments that confronted the party had been effectively and exhaustively resolved, with no subsisting litigation anywhere against the party.”
The National Chairman, Senator Usman, had, while presenting the nomination and expression of interest forms to the Governor at Abia State Governor’s Lodge, commended Governor Otti for serving as the poster boy of the Labour Party.
She noted that he has faithfully implemented the party’s ideals of equal opportunity and social justice in the governance of Abia State.
According to her, the nomination forms were presented to him free of charge in recognition of his outstanding performance in office, and as an encouragement for him to continue delivering quality governance to the people of the state.
A statement by the National Publicity Secretary Ken Asogwa, disclosed that the immediate past National Secretary of the party, Senator Darlington Nwokocha, who also received his free nomination form, was among party leaders present at the presentation ceremony.
