The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has challenged the Kabiru Turaki faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to formally establish a national secretariat in Abuja if they claim legitimacy.
Speaking during his monthly media chat on Wednesday, Wike dismissed reports of attempts by a rival PDP faction to operate a parallel leadership structure, insisting that party administration cannot be conducted informally.
“I dare them to set up a place and name it PDP National Secretariat in Abuja. You don’t do secretariat in your bedroom,” Wike said, in reaction to plans allegedly backed by the Oyo state Governor, Makinde-aligned Turaki group to sell nomination forms.

The former Rivers State governor also weighed in on the broader internal crisis rocking the PDP, including legal disputes and leadership tussles within the party’s hierarchy.
He criticized members of the party’s Board of Trustees, describing some as lacking credibility.
On allegations that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is pushing Nigeria toward a one-party state, Wike dismissed the claims, questioning recent political movements involving opposition figures such as former chieftains of the African Democractic Congress (ADC), Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso.
Wike also addressed the political situation in Rivers State, reiterating that he is no longer aligned with Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
He alleged that agreements reached during earlier peace interventions have been breached, further deepening tensions in the state’s political landscape as 2027 general election approaches.
