The 244 councillors in the 23 local government areas of Sokoto State, under the platform of the National Council of Councillors Forum of Nigeria, yesterday purchased a N50 million nomination form for Governor Ahmad Aliyu’s reelection.

Forum Chairman Nura Goronyo said they were motivated by the governor’s good governance. He presented a dummy cheque for N50 million to the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman Haruna Adiya for onward presentation to Aliyu.

According to him, they were compelled by the volume of Aliyu’s developmental projects and human capital initiatives, hence their resolve to unanimously purchase the form for him.

Goronyo said: “The purchase of this form is a manifestation of our appreciation for the good works of the current government. “We are very pleased with the programmes, initiatives, and policies of the Ahmad Aliyu administration.

“And I can tell you for certain that no one in Sokoto today is unhappy with the government, except those who dislike good things or nonobjective opposition figures.”
