Leader of the National Democratic Congress  (NDC) and Senator representing Bayelsa West, Seriake Dickson has urged Nigerians to rally behind the party, describing it as a party designed to deliver long-term stability, inclusiveness, and ideological clarity.

In a statement on Monday, Dickson appreciated Nigerians for their growing support, noting that recent additions of key political figures have strengthened the party’s structure and national appeal.

He described the development as a powerful convergence of experienced leaders with strong grassroots support, working together to build a credible alternative platform ahead of future elections.

The former Bayelsa State governor said the NDC aims to evolve into an institutionalised political party comparable to global models such as South Africa’s African National Congress, as well as established parties in Europe, the United States, and Asia.

According to him, the party places strong emphasis on youth and women participation, mentorship, and preparing citizens for leadership and public service.

Dickson also disclosed that efforts to register the NDC date back to 2017, when an initial application was submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission before the process was later revisited.

He acknowledged that the emergence of the party may attract criticism and political attacks but urged Nigerians to ignore what he described as propaganda and remain focused on national rebuilding.

The senator called on citizens to register with the NDC, participate actively, and contest elections as part of efforts to reshape Nigeria’s political landscape.
