Fintech company OneDosh on Wednesday entered into a strategic partnership with Nigerian gaming creator PlaywithTomide in a move aimed at accelerating cross-border payments and improving access to digital financial services for online communities, particularly gamers.
The partnership also includes an equity stake for PlaywithTomide in OneDosh, positioning him not only as a brand collaborator but also as an active investor and stakeholder in the company’s growth strategy.
For many users in Nigeria’s fast-growing gaming ecosystem, seamless payment for digital services remains a persistent challenge. Failed card transactions, limited international payment options, and restrictions on subscriptions have continued to affect how users engage with global gaming platforms and services.
The companies said the partnership is designed to address these friction points by building payment solutions that are better integrated into how users already interact online.
PlaywithTomide, described as a major voice within Nigeria’s gaming community, is expected to play a key role in shaping how OneDosh’s services are introduced and adopted among his audience. Instead of traditional advertising campaigns, the rollout will focus on direct integration within gaming content, live sessions, and community-driven activities.
According to OneDosh, the approach is aimed at embedding financial services into everyday digital behaviour rather than positioning them as separate tools.
“What stood out to us wasn’t just Tomide’s reach but how closely he understands his community,” Co-founder of OneDosh, Babatunde Osinowo, said. “This partnership is about building something that works for them, not just promoting the product but solving a real problem in how they pay and transact.”
Under the arrangement, PlaywithTomide will also help drive community-led activations, including tournaments, gaming challenges, and interactive campaigns that encourage real-world usage of the platform.
The strategy reflects a broader shift in fintech marketing, where creators and influencers are increasingly becoming both distribution channels and investment partners, particularly in markets where trust and accessibility remain critical barriers to adoption.
