…As Zulum, Pate Hail First Lady’s Effort To Check Insecurity


The Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum yesterday commended the support of President Bola Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu in various areas, especially in ameliorating the challenges occasioned by insurgency in the state.

He pointed out the recent approval of N68 billion for the purchase of fossil fuels for the State power plant by President Tinubu, establishment of a College of Education among others.

Also, the Coordinating Minister of Health, and Social Walfare, Prof. Mohammed Ali Pate, in his remarks said the programme was designed to establish communitybased food banks in every local government area, linked to primary healthcare centres supported by the Basic Health Care Provision Fund, in partnership with the Bank of Agriculture.

“It will provide nutritious, locally sourced food through a voucher system to malnourished children under six years, pregnant and lactating women, orphans, and vulnerable households.

Pate also revealed that the President approved a special intervention of N17 billion through the Social Action Fund to support the programme.

The Minister for Agriculture Sen. Abubakar Kyari explained to the gathering the modalities for the food bank which would feature mothers and children who have been diagnosed as malnourished at the health care facility, receive a food voucher to be taken to the Primary Health Center and redeemed as food.

Recall that on April 2, the National Community Food Bank Trust Fund was officially launched and the Board of Trustees was inagurated in at the State House Conference Hall Abuja.
