22 Aspirants Jostle For Senatorial Tickets In Delta

Over 22 All Progressives Congress (APC), Africa Democratic Congress (ADC) and Labour Party (LP) members are targeting their parties’ to the National Assembly election in the three senatorial districts in Delta State.

Some of the aspirants are said to have been sponsored to reduce the strength of some of the prominent ticket-seekers. Among those jostling for Senate tickets are Senator Ned Nwoko (Delta North), Efe Dafinone (Delta Central) and Joel Onowakpor (Delta South). Others are the immediate past Governor Ifeanyi Okowa (Delta North), Victor Ochei (Delta North), Ben Kanma (Delta North) and former Senate Deputy President Ovie OmoAgege (Delta Central).

The rest are Malik Ikpokpor (Delta South), Olorogun O’tega Emerhor (Delta Central) and John Nani (Delta Central). Ochei is expected to give Okowa and Nwoko a big fight for the APC’s ticket to the Delta North senatorial poll.

Kanma, who shocked the political landscape of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state when he contested under the LP with Obidient fireforce in 2023, has since called for “practical and people-driven leadership in Delta North”, and urged voters to align with a vision that is not just spoken, but demonstrated through action, inclusion, and measurable impact.
