The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Chapter, has entered into a strategic partnership with the Tallafi Women and Youth Foundation and conferred its President, Dr. Mairo Tanko Al-Makura, with the position of Matron of the association.
The announcement was made during a courtesy visit led by the Chairperson of NAWOJ FCT, Bassey Ita Ikpang, who described Dr. Al-Makura as a compassionate leader with a strong commitment to humanitarian service.
Speaking during the visit, Ita Ikpang noted that the association, comprising about 350 practicing female journalists across the FCT, remains dedicated to promoting ethical journalism, gender equity, and advocacy on key health and social issues affecting women and children.
She commended Dr. Al-Makura’s impactful humanitarian efforts through the Tallafi Women and Youth Foundation, highlighting its support for widows, small-scale businesses, and other vulnerable groups.
