Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has approved the appointment of interim overseers to manage the affairs of Local Government Areas (LGAs) and newly created Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) following the expiration of the tenure of 11 council chairmen.
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, who conveyed the approval, said the move was aimed at sustaining governance structures and ensuring uninterrupted service delivery at the grassroots.
According to him, the appointees were drawn from among serving officials and stakeholders within their respective LGAs.
Those appointed are: Abdulkadir Abubakar (Akko LGA); Lamaran Ahmed (Akko West LCDA); Mohammed Ajiya (Akko North LCDA); Adamu Ado (Balanga LGA); Sarah Danjuma (Balanga South LCDA); Augustine Kurugu (Billiri LGA); Gladys Garba (Billiri West LCDA); Adamu Julderu (Dukku LGA); Ahmed Usman (Dukku North LCDA); Saidu Abubakar (Funakaye LGA); Bappayo Yaya (Funakaye South LCDA); Aliyu Mohammed Dawaki (Gombe LGA); Aishatu Mohammed Sadiq (Gombe South LCDA).
Others, Labte Aaron Andrew (Kaltungo LGA); Ibrahim Gambo (Kaltungo East LCDA); Bilkisu Mohammed Magaji (Kwami LGA); Muhammad Kabir Abdullahi (Kwami West LCDA); Abubakar Yuguda (Nafada LGA); Muhammad Kabir (Nafada South LCDA); James Emmanuel Dogo (Shongom LGA); Saidu Manzo Filiya (Pero/Chonge LCDA); Ibrahim Aliyu (Yamaltu/Deba LGA); Haruna Shehu (Yamaltu/Deba East LCDA); and Dauda Umar (Yamaltu/Deba West LCDA).
Njodi noted that the appointments, which take effect from April 24, 2026, are designed to maintain administrative stability pending further political processes.
Governor Yahaya, he added, expects the overseers to ensure continuity in governance and effective service delivery across the councils during the interim period.
