Former presidential candidate and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Peter Obi, on Thursday, held a private meeting with Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed at government house, fueling ongoing speculation about political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections.
Obi, who arrived in Bauchi earlier in the day, proceeded to the Government House, where both leaders met behind closed doors at the Presidential Lounge.
As of the time of filing this report, the agenda had not been disclosed, although both figures were expected to brief journalists afterward.
The visit comes at a time of heightened political activity surrounding Mohammed, who has recently indicated interest in leaving the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

New Telegraph recalls that on March 31, the governor publicly expressed a preference for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) while hosting a delegation led by former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal.
However, subsequent developments have introduced uncertainty into his political direction.
Just a day after his comments, Mohammed hosted the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Nentawe Yilwatda, alongside Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf, a move that sparked further debate about his next move.
As chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Mohammed’s potential defection is being closely monitored, with analysts viewing it as a significant factor that could reshape political alignments ahead of the next general election.
