Zamfara Cleric Vows To Unseat Gov Lawal

A Zamfara State popular Islamic Scholar, Dr Abdulmuddalib Muhammad Auwal Gusau, has formally declared his intention to contest the governorship election in 2027, shortly after joining the Africa Democratic Party (ADC) at the party headquarters in Gusau on Monday.

Dr Abdulmuddalib, who happens to be one of the alarming followers with roughly 600,000 across the 14 Local Government areas of the state, said he is compelled by the unsatisfactory performance of the present Governor Dauda Lawal-led administration across all sectors within the past 3 years.

The Cleric lamented the poor attention given by the state government to insecurity, which led to the multiplying numbers of Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) who overpopulated Gusau, the state capital, without minding to establish a befitting camp for them to meet their needs and even for health purposes.

“I obtained the highest academic degree (PhD) in Agriculture, the position that enables me to acquire enough knowledge to enrich Zamfara State’s agricultural policy that will help to manage domestic agriculture, food security and rural development.

“Although food security could not be achieved without security measures in place that would give safe room for that, but being the fear of Almighty Allah will be the Central Nervous System of my administration, all these lingering security challenges will be conquered”, the Cleric has assured.

Dr Abdulmuddalib further challenged that the sectors of health and education in Zamfara State are still in dire need of better attention being paid by the present administration, saying, “Especially the health sector, which is not lifted to the needed standard to serve the purposes.

“One can not construct or rehabilitate health facilities without the provision of equipment for the treatment of both inpatients and outpatients”.

“You will see wonders on the issue of security immediately I become the next Governor of the state, because I am young and capable enough to face the criminals wherever they are, and by the grace of God, turn the situation in the interest of peace, Dr. Abdulmuddalib has further assured.
