How Deputy Speaker, Kalu Bagged PhD At UNICAL


The Special Adviser on Media Affairs to the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, Udora Arizu, has revealed how the lawmaker bagged a Doctorate Degree in Law at the University of Calabar (UNICAL).

Speaking exclusively to Sunday Telegraph, Arizu said her Principal was a workaholic who read widely and could deprive himself of sleep if only to achieve whathad has made up his mind to do, adding that despite his busy schedule, he was able to earn the highest academic certificate in that institution.

She said: “The Post Graduate College presented Rt Hon Kalu’s thesis as one of the best works it has produced.

His Doctoral Research is titled “Evaluating the Efficacy of Anti-Terrorism Legislation in Nigeria: Human Rights Challenges and Lessons for Emerging Democracies.”

She added that with the new laurel added to his cap, the Deputy Speaker was ready to refocus on the humanitarian work he is known for.

According to her, Kalu is ever willing to serve both his constituents and the country at large.
