The Chairman and CEO of Seahorse Lubricant Ltd, Chief Dr Ebuka Onunkwo, has stated that the Senatorial seat of Nigeria is not meant for bench warmers who have nothing to contribute to both the Nigerian Nation and their Senatorial District.
Onunkwo, who disclosed this while declaring his interest to contest the 2027 National Assembly election at Ozubulu in Ekwusigo local government area under the platform of All Progressives Grand Alliance ( APGA), noted that any representative who chooses to remain silent and say nothing about the welfare of his people has no business being in the Senate.
He expressed disappointment over the level of hopelessness and deprivation in the seven local government areas of the District, observing that the area lacks effective and standard representation.
“I have gone round the seven local government areas of Anambra South, and I realised that we are lacking effective representation. I deem it fit to present myself to give them a standard and quality representation ”
“It is not to go there to warm the seat because I am going there to bring down and facilitate the dividends of democracy to Anambra South and make sure that it gets to them and is utilised to the benefit of my Senatorial District”
He described his brand of politics as one that is public-driven, adding that he is not a regular politician.
“Yes, I am not a normal or regular politician. There are things that I do that are quite different from what the normal politician does ”
“There is a place that I visited, and it is a church with a small congregation, and I donated much not because of the size of the congregation but because of the size of the needs of the church, but a normal politician would go where there are a lot of people so that he will get a lot of votes ”
“My brand of politics is public need-driven, and that is the need for the people, and that is what drives my generosity”
“With what you have seen here today and the crowd of supporters, I am optimistic that I will get the nomination of the party, though everything is in the hands of God ‘ he said.
Speaking earlier, the Majority leader of the Anambra state house of Assembly, Chief Ikenna Ofodeme and the Chairman of APGA in Ekwusigo local government area, Chief Edwin Ukorah, described the ambition of Onunkwo as heart-warming and a great relief for the people of the zone, as his representation would have great multiplier effects on the socioeconomic development of the area.
