Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has condoled the family of the late Ibrahim Mohammed Goronyo, a correspondent with Al Jazeera in Sokoto, describing the death of Goronyo as a great loss not only to his family but to the Journalism profession in the state.
The Governor noted that late Goronyo, who passed away on Tuesday evening, was an experienced and committed journalist who contributed significantly to the development of the state and the country at large through his writings, adding that his demise has created a vacuum that will be difficult to fill.
A statement issued by Abubakar Bawa, Director General, Media and Publicity, Government House, Sokoto, further stated that the Governor prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.
The late Goronyo died at the age of 64 after a brief illness and is survived by a wife and five children.
Governor Aliyu also condoled with the families of the late Alhaji Bala Aliyu Maisango Arkilla, the late Bashir Sarkin Hurumi, the late Hajiya Tuni, as well as other deceased persons.
He prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive all the deceased, grant them Aljannatul Firdaus, and comfort their bereaved families.
The Governor was accompanied on the condolence visit by the State APC Chairman, Haruna Adiya; the North-West Secretary of the APC, Isa Saddiq Achida; and the House Leader, Bello Idris.
Others were the member representing Sabon Birni North Constituency, Aminu Almustafa Boza, as well as members of the State Executive Council, Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, and other political office holders.
